Summary0019038: Audio CD Burning functionality
DescriptionAudio CD burning is one of the most missed features of MM4.

This functionality was originally planned at 0017807, but that bug ended up tracking an addon that is a workaround--utilizing MM4 to burn tracks for MM5 users.

This is to track integrated CD burning functionality along the lines originally planned at 0017807.

Added Send to > Audio CD (Burn)...
in 5.0.4.2651

This action just simply sends the selected tracks to Audio CD with the default burn method Disk-at-once (no gaps), finalizing the CD, on-the-fly audio burning, caching network files, max burn speed, enabled CD-text, ejected media after burn process + sound alert.

So the only selection now is the drive. We could add some further options to be configurable (if needed), but it's probably not needed atm.

Marked as fixed in 5.0.4.2651 for testing.

If you want to test burning using just "simulate" instead of real burning (to easily test the functinality without a need for dozens of testing CDs)
Then edit MediaMonkey.ini and change following from

[Burn]
TestOrBurn=2

to

[Burn]
TestOrBurn=0

Burning works.

Only Issue I see as noted offline is that CD-RW disks can not be erased on Burn start. Simple Erase CD and burn YES/NO woudl be enough or simply assume you can quick erase inserted CD and burn CD.

I shoudl not go back to MM4 in order to erase CD before burning.

Another issue that I have just found is that [Burn another copy] button fails to burn the copy, respectivelly skips the burning for some reason (indicating that the Copy has been burnt successfuly).

Yes, the Edit button is missing as the tracks metadata are used for filling the CD-Text. Let's see if that's an issue (or not) and we can add it later based on feedback.

1) Burn is missing from Tools. ie. it's likely too hidden in Send To for many to find.

2) Should MediaMonkey 5.0.4 install offer to remove the MM4 burning plugin? It leaves duplicate burning options which for many won't be needed anymore (ps. this is available through Tools).

3) Please update Help link to: https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHelp:Burning_an_Audio_CD/5.0

1) I think it's ok to leave it where it is given the minimalist nature of the tool (it works similarly to other send to functions rather than the full burning functionality previously available in MM4).

1) I think it is OK that it is missing from Tools for several reasons:
a) user would hardly realize that he needs to select the group of tracks at first (to send them to a CD)
b) It's a feature not using by many (in these days) so I think it is OK to not be so prominent

=> So I wouldn't add it under Tools, but leaving on Rusty to decide

2) I have supressed the addon for the next build 5.0.4.2674
i.e. even if burn2MM4 addon is installed it is not loaded in 2674, i.e. is bypassed

3) Added the mantioned web link, but for some reason https://www.mediamonkey.com/webhelp?hp=Burning_an_Audio_CD&vmaj=5&vmin=0&vrel=4&lang=en
is redirected to
https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.php/WebHelp:Burning_an_Audio_CD/4.0
instead of
https://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/WebHelp:Burning_an_Audio_CD/5.0
i.e. it's a server side issue.

4) The addon https://www.mediamonkey.com/addons/browse/item/burn-using-mediamonkey-4/ should be removed from the Addons site

1) OK, so leaving as is based on Rusty's feedback in 0019038:0069870

3/4) needs to be resolved on server side

1) Agreed as per 0019038:0069870
2) OK
4) OK (added this to the release checklist for 5.0.4)

Re-resolving as fixed in 2674. The only remaining issue is for the old burning addon to be removed upon release of MM 5.0.4.
