0019087: Duplicate Manager

Currently duplicate management is a very complex/manual process. MM should have a single tool that allows the user to:
- Easily find all duplicates via a combination of existing hash (exact duplicates) and artist/title matching + fingerprinting to help automate the process for finding duplicates that are either similar sounding (different versions) or are missing track metadata.
- Visually display possible duplicates in a manner that makes it obvious which items are possible duplicates (e.g. grouping them)
- Facilitate selection of which items to retain and which to reject
- Automatically recommend which files to retain and which to reject (e.g. via rules based on bitrate, volume leveling, etc.)
- Automatically recommend which metadata to retain (e.g. most recently updated track OR merge of metadata OR selection of metadata, TBD)
- Allow play history of deleted entries to be merged with the retained entries (e.g. last played should be the most recent date, played # should be the sum of all played # values).
- Allow playlists to be automatically updated with the retained entries

Additionally, it should be able to handle cases in which the duplicates actually exist AND/OR cases in which there are duplicate database entries (even if the tracks do not exist)

Note: usecases could involve:
- finding duplicates within a set of selected tracks
- finding whether a set of tracks already contains duplicates elsewhere in the library

After a scan, MMM shows
Search and update to M: S
i.e.
Search and update took 7: 5

The minutes character is correct, but seconds is off (missing a second digit).

0021402: Copy Album Art to tags setting in sync profile do not delete existing albumart.jpg in file folders

If user disable save album art to files folders and enable Copy Album Art to tags in device sync profile, then on next sync MM do do not delete existing albumart.jpg (or any JPGs) in file folders making MMA do not show correct Album art for files.

Possibly it should also delete ".thumbs" folder from device too to ensure GMS rescan the files tags and update MMA library entries.

0022099: 'Clear Library...' appears to fails

If the user attempts to File > Manage database > Clear database > Yes
--> The main MMM window and the Manage database dialog both disappear (bug 0021984)
--> There's no user feedback as to whether the operation succeeded or not!
--> The database isn't cleared!
Subsequent to this failed operation, MMM crashes quite often.

If the user restarts MMM, then the DB appears empty.

So this requires 2 fixes:
1) Feedback to the user: e.g. if the user clicks 'Yes' there should be a Clear database dialog with a status bar that shows the operation completing.
2) The views should be updated to reflect the fact that all data has been deleted. OR, if that's not possible, display the existing strings:

Clear database

MediaMonkey needs to be restarted to apply the changes .

0022081: Crash/Shutdown on (navigation after) mass deletion

MMM 3500 4/27 crashes when the user navigates while a mass operation is in progress.

1 Navigate to Entire Library > Location > Folder1 > Folder2 > Folder3 [List view:RecursiveFoldersEnabled]
2 Select all files
3 Remove selection from the Database (but not the file system)
--> Status bar shows 'Deleted xx' as files are being deleted
4 Click Folder2, or Folder1, or other folders
--> MMM silently crashes (no MMM log) and completely shuts down (only an Apple log is generated).

0022065: Scan stability / performance issues

0022083: UPnP Client: 'Server inaccessible. Searching...' error appears when it shouldn't

When the MMW server can't access a particular track (e.g. because it's stored to an offline location), MMA returns an error that 'Server inaccessible. Searching...' even though the server connection isn't compromised.

In such cases (when the connection hasn't been lost), it should return a more appropriate error (e.g. 'Waiting for server...').

0022121: Blank screen always flashes on launch

Whenever MMM launches, it initially flashes the Home and Playing nodes and a blank tracklist headed by a query 'Match: _all_ of the following criteria:'.

This is most noticeable the first time it runs, but occurs every time MMM launches.

0022115: Switching languages causes MMM to no longer be able to launch

2 In Tools > Options > General switch to French and install
--> French appears to install, prompting the user 'MediaMonkey needs to be restarted to apply the changes...' but on restart MMM launches with the menubar only showing 'MediaMonkey' (no commands) and the main window with just 'MediaMonkey' in the titlebar and the rest of the window black.
--> MMM must be force-closed, but it continues to fail on restart (the solution is to completely delete the /MediaMonkey5 directory)

0019005: Artwork: improved editing usability/functionality

1. If playing track contain image that user do not like or it is incorrect there then AlbumArt searcher not allow to search for new image.

2. There is no prompt to to delete existing image (it just flashes quickly and proceed with deletion

3. There is no Obvious manual starting of Album art search (eg. like in Mm5 lookup image).

When adding the Criteria Rating to an AutoPlaylist it is set to Rating >= .5 stars. When setting >= to = instead the .5 star rating is preselected.

Instead MediaMonkey should've no value for Rating pre-selected.

Adding Track# or Disc# in Advanced Search gives it a default value of 10. Both Disc# and Track# will be set to Contains 10 when adding in Advanced Search. Instead it should have no value till user adds one.

Advanced Search/Filter can observe strange behavior
1. Edit Value field overlaps [-]
2. If Criteria uses Equals then there is no Type cursor in Value field and if you type AB (for ABBA) Drop down position to B instead of AB
3. In some cases Filter/Search is executed too early while user is still defining parameters, which leads to not needed use of Resources and UI refreshes. (Move to new bug if not related to this one)
4. As soon as you select Equals criteria dropdown is shown, I would rather open it as soon as User type in Value field
5. For Large Libraries it could be useful to Filter dropdown based on User Type (eg. Artist contains Typing value)

The table in Add/Rescan dialog box cannot be sorted by user by any column, it should be sorted by default by Location alphabetically at least.

0022118: Properties opens for in-line edited file instead of selected file

The issue happens when using both the Filelisting and the Playing, when a file is being in-line edited in the Filelisting, a right click Properties in the Playing will open the Properties of the file that was being in-line edited in the Filelisting instead of the file you right clicked on in the Playing.

If the user syncs a playlist that contains a mix of tracks some of which contain artwork and others missing artwork, then the playlist is usually represented by 3 artwork images.

In some cases, though, instead of actual artwork, the 'missing artwork' image is used!

In the worst cases, the 'missing artwork' image is used as the first of three images in the stack!

Reported in the forum and I can confirm as well:

The following both fail to lookup in MMA 2
Paula Cole - I Don't Want to Wait (from This Fire)
Paula Cole - Where Have all the Cowboys gone (from This fire)

And the following looks up incorrectly:
Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath (from the album Black Sabbath)

The same problem occur with 1.4

0022084: UPnP: When in the 'Playing' > Queue tab, tapping a track switches to 'Artwork'

If the user is already in the 'Playing' > Queue tab, and playing tracks from a UPnP server, then tapping a different track in the queue causes the view to switch to Playing > Artwork.

This issue is specific to the UPnP tracks i.e. it doesn't occur for tracks that are playing locally.

Program displays unneeded tooltips when the full text is visible:
- Column filter view element (not always, sometimes only Genre column, sometimes only Artist column);
- List (Folders) view element;
- Grid (Folders) view element;
- Home / Media Nodes element;
- Entire Library and other collections / Collection browser element;
- Genres / Grid (Categories) view;
- Years / Grid view;
- Rating / Grid view;
- Playlists / Grid view;
- Devices & Services / device / Sync List (Library -> Device) / right list with Albums/Genres/Artists/...;
- Folders / both Grid and List views;
- listview in Auto-tag dialog box;
- Properties dialog box / Custom / Extended tags listview ("Edit Extended Tags" tooltip; is that really needed?);
- most probably somewhere else.

0020660: Tooltips in rightmost visible column of listview should be displayed only for text that is not fully visible

I have opened another issue about unneeded tooltips mostly in grid views (0020658), but this is another independent issue mentioned in another report that is not fully/correctly resolved (0019217).

The program displays tooltips unnecessarily when the hovered text is fully visible. This is happening with the rightmost column of listview that is not fully visible, i.e. its right border is outside of view. However, the fact that that column is not fully visible doesn't mean that tooltips should be displayed for all items/rows in that column, but only for those items that don't have fully visible text.

The tooltips are not displayed in such occasions in any standard Windows programs (and I believe in other OSes as well). Even the same problem with MM4 that was mentioned in another report is manifesting very rarely, maybe in 0.0001% (which should not be excuse for MM5 behavior anyway), but this thing with MM5 is happening 100%, which means always.

0020382: Window corners are not the same after changing skin

Some skins have round corners, but they are displayed like that only after start of the program. However, if you change the skin in View menu, and chose the same initial skin again, it will have sharp corners.

0020348: Main filelist scrolling causes rows to get hover color

The rows in the main filelist will get the hovering color on vertical scrolling, as if a mouse is over them (but it is not, it is above the scrollbar). The Media Tree and Now Playing panels don't have such issue. It happens with all skins.
