Summary0016226: Foreign Artists bio sometimes completely misses Bio search on WikiPedia
DescriptionIn case of Foreign Artists bio sometimes completely misses Bio search on WikiPedia and shows completely wrong information.

For example Serbian Pop Artist "Oliver Stoiljkovi?" is wrongly presented as "Oliver is an electronic music production and DJ duo consisting of Vaughn Oliver and Oliver Goldstein, based in Los Angeles." which is completely wrong and his profile do not exist on Wikipedia

Note: Artist Picture and Playing (Artist Bio) Showing correct images of him and his work.

I guess we should lower matching criteria and/or change search criteria.

Note: Google Search Correctly finds "Oliver Stoiljkovi?" as Pop artist and discogs also finds correct result https://www.discogs.com/artist/1130680-Oliver-Stojiljkovi%C4%87

Artist Oliver Stoiljkovic is not present in MusicBrainz library at all (see https://musicbrainz.org/search?query=Oliver+Stoiljkovic&type=artist&limit=25&method=indexed ), so we cannot return correct info with any matching criteria. The only way is to insert this artist to MusicBrainz DB, wait until it is synchronized to our MB DB, and select correct artist in "Looup alternate" menu.
Closing, as I can do nothing with this.

We use fuzzy searching, because of many different misspellings, it returns nearly always some results. And there is no way we could automatically detect what is wrong and what is correct. That is why we have possibility to set "Don't display info" in "Lookup Alternate" menu, so artist is disconnected from the wrong found artist.

Reopening, there is refresh issue for online data, when selecting "Don't display info", old wrong online tracks remain until another refresh(es), especially in List and List by Album subviews.

Verified Main issue in 2220

Much better as that way users can filter artists that do not have match and they are presented to enter them on musicbrainz

Could you add same THREE DOTS context menu (From Artist View) also in Playing View (Artist Bio) as it could be very useful to let user have same options to do alternative lookup. or buy artist music.

Ad 3dots menu - Now Playing view does not contain data for this functionality (it is view for track, not for artist), it would need to double functionalities and data from artist view header. As it is not related to this issue, I am closing it. In case it is really needed (I am not sure about it), create new issue, target will be 5.1.

You are right, closing.

Such functionality can be also added with scripts later if there is a need for it.
