| Description | When I tried to configure the player to work with Winamp3, it tried to write a file to the WinAmp directory, failed, because none existed, and then closed the internal player. This error situation should be handled in the following way: -On the configure player menu, there should be an indication of which version(s) of winamp are supported -User chooses WinAmp in this dialog -app should attempt to find the Winamp directory -if missing give user ability to choose alternate directory -if user chooses alternate directory without Winamp 2, give warning to user that 'Winamp 2 not found." -App should be returned to its former state | ||||

Currently only WinAmp2 is supported. Actually, I think we don't need to support WinAmp3, because there is the internal player now and after some improvements there is no need for an external player and also WinAmp3 is a kind of competition for us. How the support for WA2 should stay. |

Ok, so all that's needed is some text about this limitation in the setup dialog. I'll describe the specifics in a bug about the setup pane organization/text. btw, I think that the WinAmp integration _is_ a useful feature, because today, Song_DB does not have all of the player functionality present in WinAmp (e.g. WA3 visualizations, crossfading, equalizer). If it's a simple matter to support WA3, I'd suggest it might be worthwhile. |

Set priority to low. Options dialog update is done, only WinAmp3 could be supported, but it isn't too important as WinAmp2 is supported quite well, and WinAmp3 seems to be not much popular. |

Raising severity to 'Crash'--I think that this needs to be fixed (we don't need compatibility wiht WA3, we just need the app to not hang when the user sets an incorrect directory for WA2). If I set an incorrect directory (e.g. Winamp 3 or Blah instead of Winamp), the app tries to find the executable, and provides an error message when it cannot. The error message is: Winamp executable is not located at C:/path. Please select it's correct location in the setup dialog and then restart Songs-DB. This is impossible to do though, as clicking 'ok' on this error message has now effect. Moreover, if I kill SDB (i.e. end the process), and then restart it, the error message appears again, and there's no way to close it. The only way around this is to kill SDB, delete the .ini file, and then restart SDB!! |

Fixed in build 475. Now the message is shown just once. |

Re-opening as a tweak and setting to low priority. In build 1.475, the error message appears, and the user is then able to reconfigure a different player (i.e. they no longer are forced into deleting the .ini file). The only problem now is that if the user incorrectly sets the player, the error message appears, however, if they incorrectly set it a second time, there's no status indication of whether they've found the correct version of winamp or not. The only way to check is to close SDB and restart it--as indicated in the error message--I guess my pereference would be that this step be eliminated. |
