Summary0006229: Media Properties: S/N not Assignable anymore
DescriptionDialog Library -> Location -> Right Click on Media -> Properties

It would be usable to make Small Select Drive Letter Button in Media Properties Dialog Which will bring Drive letter selection and then update S/N accordingly in MM.DB

Reason why this needed is that some users:
- Temporally Copy whole HDD Path structure to another HDD for Backup
- Reformat HDD
- Copy Backup HDD path Structure onto reformatted drive
- MM Library do not work due the different HDD Serial Number even Structure is Same

It will resolve common question in Forum and complex Tutorials on how to migrate from one HDD to Another will not be needed.

This is Long standing issue and should be addressed.

Currently the best approach would be to follow these steps:
1. Location should be filled correctly Showing Drive label and letter like Windows Explorer or N/A if not recognized
2. Browse Folder Button should be added so that user can browse for a folder where are new files are moved
3. When user Select folder MM should initiate locate moved/missing track function to the folder and present User results
4. On results accept S/N and Location should be Updated and Dialog closed.

Looks like adding this dialog to MM5 with some drive location selector might be useful.

re 1&2: any reason why to change UNC path ? Main problem is when user moves his library to new drive (with different serial number) so he can 'relocate' to new drive
re 3: will add

re 1: Yes, like moving from Local Drive to UNC path (to NAS)

re 2: yes, like moving from "\\QNAPNAS\Music" to "\\192.168.1.100\Music" or to move to mapped Drive Letter

Note regarding 2: There is common issue with NAS devices that looses Master Browser or simply are not announced in Netstat for LAN and only way to access it is to enter IP address or Open Media Device in Network and then you actually navigate by IP (D-Link usually use that approach) the resulting problem is that MMW can't resolve \\DLINKNAS as it do not exist anymore even \\192.168.1.100 is \\DLINKNAS but Master browser do not recognize it and with that no other PC in LAN do not recognizes it. My CCNA Certificate and not even QNAP nor Microsoft support ever figure it out why it happens and how to force handle Master browser Elections.

Ludek, do you want to defer this beyond 5.0? It's likely to crop up among users upgrading to new machines, but if it's not trivial we can defer.

I see that "Media Properties" dialog was added by Petr in the past, but it was subsequently (accidentally?) removed.

I added it back, but haven't tested it much. I just briefly changed from C:\ to D:\ in the Location dorpdown and it seems to work, it wrote "Location change is complete and will take effect after MediaMonkey restart" and after the restart the files were really re-located.

So please re-test in 2223 and re-assign to Petr in case it is not working in all cases as it should.

1) As before (see my comment at #54199 ): The Serial number still can't be changed / doesn't change in response to (re)selection of a HD location (and as already discussed at 0015729 (item 2) and originally in 0015695, edits to drive labels don't fix drive label mismatches).

Note: I have not tested whether Location / SN fields indicate 'NA' if the DB is pointing to an inaccessible location

2) Also, As pointed out by Martin at 0015804: The drop-down for Location opens upwards instead of downwards.

3) Peke has made numerous other requests in this bug, however, I'd suggest that they are lower priority. e.g.
- Browse Folder Button should be added so that user can browse for a folder where are new files are moved
- When user Select folder MM should initiate locate moved/missing track function to the folder and present User results
- Support for UNC paths

Items 1, 2 fixed so i think we can postpone item 3 to 5.0.1 and lower priority.

Reopen.

4. Dialog first time Dialog is shown it opens full Screen, and subsequential openning opens in Center and correct size. Not sure if this is a bug at all as I think it is just leftover from older versions settings

5. Serial Number is not shown correctly and do not correspond to Partition Serial.

4) I've tried to delete persistent and dialog is shown as it should so probably leftover
5) try with clean install without DB import

5) Tested using Clean MM5 install -> Scanned only default folders. Location -> C: -> Media Properties shows same Serial as https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/file_download.php?file_id=2941&type=bug and Serial for C: is "C678-C100"

MM5.DB sent offline.
