Summary0004820: Warn iPod Users about 'Level volume when synchronizing'
DescriptionIf an iPod user uses this function, it unnecessarily levels volume and could cause other problems if the user changes the track on the device (e.g. edits rating triggering sync back to the PC of a levelled track).

If an iPod user tries to use this function there should be some sort of warning e.g.
"Your device supports volume leveling tags (via Replay Gain or Soundcheck) so it is recommended to not enable this option, and use the Analyze Volume tool instead. [OK] "
TagsNo tags attached.

I'm not sure, we could add this message, but I'm afraid that it will cause more bad than good. It still has some advantages to use this feature, e.g. for auto-converted tracks, where MM can't easily include calculated leveling coefficients. It would possibly be better to only include some detailed description of effects on various devices in help file or somewhere on-line.

I don't understand your comment. As far as I understand, auto-conversion of a track that has a Volume Leveling co-efficient will automatically retain the same co-efficient, and will transfer the Soundcheck equivalent to the iPhone. Is that not the case?

If it's not, then are you saying that users should volume level _all_ tracks via the auto-conversion so that tracks can play at level volume on the iPod even though only e.g. ~5% of tracks synced need to be auto-converted?
