Summary0004809: FLAC and OGG ALBUMARTIST tag is not saved
DescriptionAs reported by a user (and confirmed), ALBUMARTIST is not saved. This isn't _that bad_ since ALBUM ARTIST and ENSEMBLE contain the same information and are saved correctly, however, it is a problem for compatibility with some applications/devices.

Regarding FLAC it can be easily Added to Format Plugin.

As far as I know, this isn't a regression, we never wrote this field, even though we currectly do _read_ it. This will probably work best with the planned improvements in tagging, where user will be able to configure more aspects of individual tagging formats (e.g. which fields to write, 'ALBUM ARTIST', 'ALBUMARTIST' or 'ENSEMBLE' or all of them).

Can we get some clarification on this? The help file indicates that Album Artist is saved to 'ALBUM ARTIST', 'ALBUMARTIST' and 'ENSEMBLE'. It appears that it is definitely not saved to 'ALBUMARTIST' at all.

Jiri, you indicated that all three of the above fields are read. When MediaMonkey reads the tags, which will it display when the values in each tag are different? This is causing problems for some users:

Album artist is written as: 'ALBUM ARTIST' and 'ENSEMBLE'.

While tags are read, MM prefers the fields in this order: 'ALBUM ARTIST', 'ALBUMARTIST', 'ENSEMBLE' (more preferred first).

This is for OGG.

Same is for FLAC with exception that 'ALBUM' tag should be forced to be written after 'ALBUM ARTIST' to avoid issues with Cowon D2 like in 0002954 regarding 'ARTIST' tag.

Will check that ASAP.

It seems that a variety of apps/devices use ALBUMARTIST rather than ALBUM ARTIST

Due the compatibility ALBUMARTIST gets priority over the ENSAMBLE and ALBUM ARTIST, but also all three are save back to get all Compatibility Issues.
