Summary0003090: Improved / Common means of configuring associated file types
DescriptionCurrently user sees a list of supported extensions on one page of MM installer and can check/uncheck them individually. This kind of detailed configuration probably isn't necessary for most users and would become even more complicated with the added support for new formats (aac, mp4, m4a, m4b, ...).

Therefore I'd suggest to simplify the configuration only to something like:

Associate with:
 [ ] Audio files
 [ ] Playlist files
TagsNo tags attached.

Per discussion, I think that many users in our audience would be reluctant to enable an association of that nature since:
a) they don't know exactly what is being associated
b) they don't have the level of control they may want (even if they knew).

Hopefully there's a way of implementing this as a tree--I like the general idea, though I don't think it's critical.

Also, if we're running out of space, we could create 2 columns; one for playlist formats, one for Audio.

I have several Ideas regarding this and along with solving/simplifying this we will solve issues when our internal Input plugin do not play or users are not satisfied with its performance (e.i. MP3 and MAD input plugin switch) that involves direct edit/renaming of input plugins filenames (This is for separate Bug entry along with what to do about memory/CPU usage of unused plugins).

Here is a suggested hierarchy that could be used in both the installer and Options>File Types panel:

[x] Common Audio Files
- [x] AAC (iTunes)
-- [x] AAC
-- [x] M4A
-- [x] M4B
-- [x] M4P
- [x] APE (Lossless audio)
- [x] CDA (Audio CDs)
- [x] FLAC (Lossless audio)
-- [x] FLAC
-- [x] FLA
- [x] OGG
- [x] WMA
[ ] Other Audio Files:
- [ ] APL
- [ ] MAC
- [ ]MPC
-- [ ] MPC
-- [ ] MPP
- [ ] VQF
- [ ] WAV
[x] Playlist Files
- [x] M3U
- [x]PCAST (Podcasts)
- [x] PLS
