2. Focus is still on Playlist tree node and "- New Playlist -" is created in Edit Mode
3. Press ESC to Cancel Playlist creation
4. Expected That newly created Playlist is removed/canceled

Multiple clicks are needed to Name newly created playlist or delete it if created accidentally.
5. Right click on "- New Playlist -"

For me the ' - New Playlist - ' is created in the playlist edit panel and when I start typing the ' - New Playlist - ' is replaced by the typed name.
And I can start D&D files to the new playlist.

This was designed like this in early MM5 alfa state and has been always like this AFAIR..

Could you elaborate what is the 'regression' ?

For me behaviour is still the same (tested 5.0.4, 2024.1, 2024.2)
upon creating focus is shifted to Edit panel and by start typing you name the playlist..

I don't see a regression here and if you mean that ESC should cancel the task, this is questionable, but could be..
Lowering priority and moved target to 2026..
