| Summary | 0020438: Filelist doesn't show album arts for some files in Folders node | ||||
| Description | I have a folder with files from double-disc album, all files are inside the same folder (1xx - ... and 2xx - ...), and there is one Folder.jpg file in that folder, but files from the first disc have one album name and files from the second disc have the same name with added "(Disc 2)". The album art is not displayed for any file from that album in any view (List, Grid...) I have another folder with files with the single-disc album, there is Folder.jpg in that folder, all files have entered Artist/Album tags except one file that has these data missing. That album shows album art for all files from that folder just fine, even in List (by Album) and Grid (by Album), although in these two views they are grouped as two albums. I don't understand why the album art is not displayed for files in the first folder, but is displayed fine for the second folder. In both cases Album Artist tag is missing. These folders are not entered into the Library, but selected in the Folders node. | ||||

Here is one screenshot. There is a folder from the Folders that is not entered to the Library, the artwork is in bitmap files, not in tag. Some tracks from that album in the Grid view don't show artwork, but when I select any of them, the Preview panel shows artwork correctly. Also, the Properties / Artwork shows the bitmap files for such track just fine. |

Problem seems to be fixed in 3402, after some related artwork handling fixes. |

I cannot find folders with the problematic single-disc albums, maybe I edited their tags in the meantime. However, the mentioned double disc album mentioned in the description is still without any artwork in b3521 (empty DB, Folders node, Folder.jpg file in the same folder with MP3 files). |

Here is the screenshot with the mentioned double disc album: |

Most probably fixed in build 3522, issue 0022327 had the same cause. |

The files have completely different album ("christmas flexi" vs "Unknown"). MM is album based and assigns artwork to albums, not folders. So only in case it looks like one album, it does show artwork. In this case it is not one album, if both files are in the folder. So it is by design and correct behavior (decided in 0004408). |

Your decision is ridiculous for many reasons, here are some that came to my mind in this moment: 1. I am talking about Folders node, not about tracks added to the Library; 2. I am talking about Grid view that is based on files, not about Grid (by Album); 3. if I choose Selected for Preview and if I put and select any of these two mentioned files into 'Playing' panel, I don't get displayed artwork in the Preview; 4. if I choose Properties for any of these two files, I don't get any artwork displayed in it; 5. Winamp doesn't work like this, it shows artwork no matter what Album or any other tag contains, and I don't believe any other media player works like MM. (I would like to reopen the quoted issue, but I am getting Access Denied message.) |

It was decided in 2008, as the change you want was already there and was poorly accepted by users, it was confusing for them. So artwork is assigned only in case folder contains tracks from one album. No complains for ages. So sorry, it won't be changed. |
