| Summary | 0022576: Option to choose what defines an album needed | ||||
| Description | There are options that define which data should be used for metadata, including these in the Infer properties group. However, there is no option that will allow users to define what they think that characterizes their albums. There are many users that have folders perfectly organized by albums, having all tracks from the albums in their respective folders, but there are many of such users that don't have properly entered tags in files and they don't want to change them for whatever reason. There are also many of such users that don't want to bother with Library and scanning files, but use MM just as a player for playing files from the Folders node. Your current solution implemented way back with 0004408 is like that that you treat files from the same folder as a part of the same album only if all of them have the similar Album tags. Such decision leads to numerous confusions among users who are asking why their files are not displayed, e.g. in the List (by Album) or Grid (by Album) views, Or, it could lead to the missing displayed Artworks for the media files from the same folder having the Folder.jpg (0020438). I think it would be best if you add an option for users too choose what defines their albums, just as MusicBee has it: Specify how files are grouped to an album (*) files for each album are organised in their own folder ( ) the following fields define an album: 1: Album Artist 2: Album Name 3: ... However, I think such option should be applied only on files from folders having Folder.jpg. For folders without that file you should use the current implementation. | ||||
