| Description | Moving from 0019436: There is currently inconsistency when quoted strings are used for single word or multiple words. e.g. "be" finds "Let it be" , but does not find "The Best Of" --> this is correct according to the tooltip "Foo" finds whole words (and the original Jiri's suggestion 0015131 ) BUT "the be" finds both "The Best Of" and "The Beatles" --> this is also correct according to the tooltip "foo bar" finds matches including phrase foo bar (e.g. foo barman) I found this as incosistency and IMO the tooltip and the behavior should be changed so that only whole words are _always_ searched when quoted. | ||||

I think that this is an unnecessary complication. Search is configured by a global setting which includes options "Match beginning of words" or "Match whole words only" Why would want to create an exception for quoted criteria. That just makes MM5 harder to learn and understand IMO" Your example where someone searches for "be" seems artificial. ... Is anyone likely to do that? More likely someone would be search for something where they are not sure of the spelling. eg. Rachmaninov .. or is it Rachmaninoff ? There doesn't seem any good reason why "rachm" works differently to rachm ... when Search is configured to "match beginning of words" Especially when "sergei rachm" works exactly the same as sergei rachm |
