Summary | 0018870: Manage Search History
Description | Currently users have no way to remove any items from the auto-complete drop-down in Search. 1) Add Ctlr+Delete to delete individual items (useful for mistyped items) 2) Add option under Tools > Options > Search to clear search history

Users also suggested that the "Clear history" could be a new item in this dropdown menu (which is reasonable IMO): |

I wouldn't add UI entries to the search menus for this, but we could add a button as suggested above to the configuration i.e.: 2) Add option under Tools > Options > Search > [Clear search history] |
|
Adding the option under Tools > Options > Search > [Clear search history] would make this option hard to find (as user would need to scroll down to find this item under all the fields list). We could place it above the list, but in this case it seems too prominent for me. So I lean toward adding it directly to the dropdown menu as suggested in my note above. The rationale is that it clears history of the dropdown -- so it really belongs there. The question is the target version, i.e. whether we plan to run another localization round for 5.0.4 as 'Clear history' would be a new string to translate. |
