Summary0001878: Tracks saved to virtual cd cannot be Synched (regression)
DescriptionWhen user Cache Track from Audio CD in Virtual CD, any manipulation of that track in case that source media is unavailable results in same behavior:

When Synching with portable device, copy to location or move to location; VCD track is copied/moved but with source extension (.cda). This results in wrong file Type and devices skips that track as dammaged/wrong.

Like user pointed in http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4017&highlight= changing file extension on device fixes the problem and I came to conlusion that VCD is insensitive to file type when sync/copy/move to folder/device, and solution will be something like:

In case that track is unavailable and exists in VCD sync(in case that device support that filetype in VCD)/copy Cached VCD track like it was source track. or give user a chose default behavior (1. Use VCD in case of source is unavailable, 2. Ask For Source to become available).

In case of Move this should be different and I'm not so sure how to do it due to few possible solutions or maybe leave it as is.

Note: the synchronization problem has already been fixed.

The copy/move problem is part of the overal usability problem of the VCD. i.e. indiscriminate moves/copies can't be permitted due to the current design of the VCD.

This needs to be revised, it exactly shows what the bug is according to Ticket
http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/staff/index.php?_m=tickets&_a=viewticket&ticketid=30

My suggestion would be to add Option in Virtual CD:
[] Use Cached Virtual CD version of track if Source is not available

I just tested this out with an iPod and there's definitely a regression--I can no longer sync a track from a VCD to an iPod. I haven't tested with other devices.

Notes: VCD tracks are saved in .mp3 format for the test

It now syncs correctly, however, the auto-sync list still doesn't work correctly:
when the user e.g. hovers over a playlist that contains VCD tracks, the tracks display as Track03.cd, Track04.cd.

As far as I know it has always been this way. It seems to make sense to me, there are tracks of given item (Audio CD or Playlist for example) shown, not their copies in VCD.

We can discuss changes in this (even though I'm not sure it's necessary), but it should be done for some later release.

I also agree with Jiri that it always been working like that.
VCD is just regular playlist which shows which tracks are in VCD and it should point to original location not to VCD one.

Tested 1153 and I cannot manually sync a track from the VCD to an iPhone.
