| Description | 1. In MM5 we removed Skins from Options and moved it to View menu, so it is not available anymore under options possible teaks eg. Add Skin chooser Under Active layout in Layout options so that user can configure Skins per Active layout and change accordingly 2. Media Tree should be subnode under Layout options 3. Appearance should be subnode under Layout options This should clean up some UI/Layout and make it clear for user NOTE: I would not remove skin change under view menu as it is useful there for quick testing, but I would add option to auto revert on Time delay along with check box not to delay anymore and apply skin immediately. | ||||

4. 'View > Mode' should be probably incorporated to Options > Layout somehow? Or 'Options > Layout' shouldn't be available in Touch mode -- as it does not work currently anyhow. Can be used only for configuring the 'Desktop' mode. |

I don't think that any of these is really necessary, even though 1&4 are probably worth consideration. 5. I also though about merging Image Size and Manage Views (from Main View button) and Layouts configuration. I'm not sure about the best way though. |

1. I agree that users would expect skins in the config options. 2. 'Collections and views' really do belong in the library settings. (no change needed) 3. Appearance is a library setting, but the word 'Appearance' isn't accurate--it contains field settings (multi-value fields, display fields without 'the', Custom fields). Perhaps rename it to 'Fields' or 'Customize fields'? 4. Re. incorporating View > Mode into Layout config. Mode is a runtime (i.e. on the fly) config option so I'm not sure if it's needed in the Options menu. We can reconsider this in the future. 5. View configuration as it relates to image size is tracked at 0015756 . Integration of view configuration into Layout options has been discussed at 0016066 (item 1b) but is being deferred for now for reasons described in the bug. 6. Layout (along with skins) should be moved to a top-level item since it really doesn't fit 'Library'. 7. It might make more sense to include Downloads/Podcasts within Library. Summary of proposed changes to better organize Options settings (items 1, 3, 6, 7 + re-order of Library items to better group them): General - Player - Layout - Player - Preview - Skin Library - Collections & Views - Fields - Tags & Playlists - Auto-Organize - Search - Media Sharing (UPnP/DLNA) - Downloads/Podcasts - Last.fm service |
