Summary0011858: Exit while minimized to tray fails to show tray icon on start (regression in 4.1)
DescriptionIf you minimize MediaMonkey to tray, then Exit MediaMonkey and restart there is no main interface (expected), but also no tray icon (unexpected). User can't use MediaMonkey.

This ONLY happens on first boot up of the software, if I close the program, and reopen, it'll open immediately. Warkaround is to start MM again.

It is only reproducable on Windows XP by using the "Minimize to tray" option (via right-click on title bar) and the option is missing on Win 7, Win 8

I can't reproduce the issue, could you please write exact steps how to repro?

You wrote on the forum that Minimize to tray is available on right click on Titlebar context menu, but I don't see any :-/

Tested both skinned/skinless on Win7 64x as the user, could you make screengrap of the menu?

Hmm, this options is missing on my end, assigned back to me to find why.

From what I see it sounds to me that there must be a third party app adding this option (like PowerMenu): http://windows7themes.net/windows-7-minimize-to-tray.html#How_to_minimize_windows_to_tray_via_PowerMenu_FREEWARE

But from the forum post it looks that the user's objective is different, he wants MM to start minimized to tray, currently if it is closed to tray and exited, it starts maximized.

No additional things installed here. Both Win Server 2003 with MM 4.1 and Win XP with MM 4.0.7 have this option. However I don't see it on Win 8 with MM 4.1.

Yes, on Win XP I see the option "Minimize to tray" and can reproduce the bug.

Note that the issue isn't that MediaMonkey interface isn't shown, but that the icon is invisible.

Here are steps how to reproduce it on Windows 7:
Tools -> Options -> General -> Minimisation settings : check "Minimize to MicroPlayer",
Click the Minimize box (top right corner) to minimize to tray icon, but be sure that MicroPlayer is disabled in tray so that icon is shown in the tray
Right click on the tray icon, and select exit to close MediaMonkey
Open MediaMonkey again -> Splash screen shows for less than a second, MediaMonkey process is shown in "Windows Task Manager", but no tray icon (unlike 4.0.7).

This regression was caused when optimizing MM4 startup time (0010450).

Fixed in 4.1.1.1695

To clarify: The "Minimize to Tray" on WinXP does actually the same action as "Minimize to MicroPlayer", it is duplicate option.
