Summary0011155: Play menu: Separate Play and Pause should be available beside Play/Pause
DescriptionIt is hard to simply reset track playback to beginning by default. Especially for bookmarked tracks whre you need to physically move progress bad to beginning of playback bug 0011153.

Most skins have only Play/Pause button instead of two separate buttons (and even Stop Button) which makes process of returning playback to beginning a two click process clicking stop and Play/Pause Where for example clicking on Play button in Now Playing -> Play Controls will reset playback immediately.

I don't think an additional button is needed. The solution presented at 0011153 should do the trick.

I do not think that this is related to solution, like you pointed in first sentence of 0011153:0037177 "... most skins don't have a Play button in the UI (only Play/Pause)." purpose of this would be to give users ability to have separate Play and Pause buttons if preferable.

After further testing on Podcast playback and enabled "Play Controls" in Now Playing PLAY Button only resets playback to to last saved Bookmarked position even I played another 10 Min in podcast.

Currently there is no way to restart track easily and that dialog would be just annoying and you need to get up from a bed click on dialog (if you make it till it times out)."

i.e. the solution of resetting the bookmark through the use of a popup dialog won't work in all cases, and therefore pressing 'Play' during playback should still trigger a reset to the bookmark.

I still think that:
a) adding a 'Play' function to the 'Play' menu is confusing as it would result in:
Play/Pause
Play
Pause

which looks ridiculous.

Alternatively, we could get rid of 'Play/Pause' and it would result in:
Play
Pause

But I think that is equally bad since <Ctrl>

(or any single button to play/pause is the most standard behavior for a player.

We could add a 'hidden' Play command that could be used by addons that externally control MM, but I think that pressing Play to reset the bookmark would result in accidental resets.

So I think the solution presented at 0011153 works for MM, but as you pointed out, it doesn't fully solve the problem if MM is controlled externally--and for that, I'm not sure of the best solution.

I don't think that PLAY should restart bookmark and I also don't like the dialog as it would be rather annoying.
