Summary0010551: Playlists: Sync Playlist handling improvements
DescriptionThere are few important issues/features raised by users:

1. Playlist Sync settings. EG. Delete other files and settings handling very well files but in terms of playlists it is lacking functionality that no Playlists are not removed from device. Current Expected behavior would be that MMA deleted all playlists and created only those that are in Sync List, but current behavior is that If tracks are removed with Sync process MMA is left with empty playlists.

Warning: I guess we left this as is to avoid deletion of playlists that were created on device itself, so I would suggest that playlist sync is handled on the end and that Empty playlists are deleted from device (either only when DELETE is enabled or as maintenance precocious.

2. Location Playlists are not Created and they should be created based on Sync Mask

3. If user uses Right click on now playing track -> send to -> Device (Synchronize) -> Playlist gets overwritten instead appended with new content

4. In relation to 3. and 1. there should be one designated Playlists eg. "Manually Synchronized" that will be:
 a) excluded from deletion in 1. except it ends empty after deletion of files
 b) Excluded globally from Deletion or at least made configurable so that MMA/MMW know which files should not delete on sync

5. I would suggest that "Delete other files" should be separately set in Options TAB in something like "Sync maintenance" where users would be able to set better deletion settings and MMA database maintenance/exclusions like for 4. or Device created playlists would be deleted on sync or user would select some playlists to be deleted along with files that are contained in those playlists (WMP feature). NOTE: This is feature but from what I have read on forum users expect that MMW handle Maintenance of MMA libraries along with playlists.

As talked with Marek on IM I created this bug along with sum of Forum related complains about playlists sync handling, to be triaged and split if needed to be incorporated in next builds

To clarify issues, per IM talk with Rusty:
2. Due the lack of Folder Browser and when user Manually sync MMW folders to device this is very useful option as it will give user of MMA easy access to play single folder, if not it should be either disabled or removed from options, but again not all users use MMA

3. Follow steps in 3. an "Now Playing" playlist gets created on Sync and each time you repeat steps it gets overwritten with latest manual sync content instead user would expect that created playlist is appended or

4. manually synched tracks can have dedicated Playlists which will be appended on each manual sync and possibly excluded from deletion due the fact that tracks are not synchronized using Auto-sync or right clicked on playlist 0< send to (which will create new playlist under that name)

1) is covered in 0010992
2) Good point. Tracked at: 0011003
3) Please clarify, I still don't understand. Right-clicking a track and sending it to the device sends the track, but doesn't create a playlist for the track?!
4) It sounds like you're asking for a 'Sync & Add to Auto-sync list' function. This sounds like a good idea, but needs a bit more thought since it couldn't work for individual tracks unless a special playlist was created for them--which would result in a mess in the auto-sync list.
5) I disagree--I think that this is pretty important to see upfront, but if users have requested this, please provide links to the relevant threads.

3, 4, 5 are fixed with later implementations of MMA.

and 1, 2 have their bugs.
