Summary0003467: m4a files with 59+ character or unicode filenames/folders cannot be played in MM
DescriptionAs pointed out in bug 1448, the root of this problem is that Quicktime can't play tracks with > 59 characters in the filename. We're receiving bug reports re. AAC playback problems related to this issue--it seems that many users do have filenames > 59 characters long.

Note that iTunes does not suffer from this limitation--I'm hoping that there's a way for MM to resolve this as well.
Additional InformationSample tracks are on the ftp server under bug 1448 (by Vivaldi)
TagsNo tags attached.
Fixed in build1106

Raising priority. This will cause too many support issues.

Btw, according to this document from Apple http://developer.apple.com/qa/qa2005/qa1413.html , this is a known problem and it also causes problem with Unicode filenames.

A related problem is that tracks stored to a network location cannot be played by Quicktime. The solution of copying the track locally first would probably solve both problems.

Also, Unicode is a problem for playback whether it is in the filename or the folder.

Fixed in build 1099.
 - It should be fully fixed now, using a trick all tracks should play fine now.

As reported in forum, this still doesn't work well with some Unicode filenames.
