Summary0002855: Backup Service
DescriptionA service that many users might find useful would be a means of backing up their music library to an offsite location for safekeeping.

This could generate ongoing revenues as well.

The way I envision this is that:
-user clicks a backup button
-they're exposed to a UI similar to the device synchronization config UI
-user is promted to enter credit card info on a web site
-instead of synching to the device, MM 'synchs' selected content + the DB to the backup service

-Restore button would do the opposite

Amazon S3 can provide the back-end for the backup service--: http://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html?node=16427261

Cost is minimal: # $0.15 per GB-Month of storage used, # $0.20 per GB of data transferred.

We could have a small markup (or see if there are affiliate fees from Amazon for this).

Interesting idea, maybe even better would be to handle the storage ourself and thus take the full credit for the service. It would certainly mean more work for us, but I'm not even sure if this would be possible using Amazon, if it supports user authentication, etc.
