Summary0002441: iPod Synchronization: tracks with Genre 'Podcast' should appear in the iPod Podcast node
DescriptionA couple of users have complained that tracks with Genre Podcast are not navigable via the iPod's Podcast node.

This can be achieved by transparently (no UI) having tracks with Genre=Podcast be synched so that they appear in the Podcast section of the iPod device (no UI to configure this).

Note: I don't believe that there's any need to _ever_ add UI configurability to this feature.

It isn't fully implemented, as of build 963 iPod at least treats these tracks as audiobooks - i.e. playback position is kept and these tracks aren't played in Shuffle mode.

Verified in build 960 and whenever Genre=Podcast, the bookmarking feature on the iPod works as expected. Would have been nice to have the podcast appear as a podcast, but I guess that's too complicated.

This has already been resolved in MM 3.0. Currently all tracks from Podcasts node are properly shown on iPod.

Resolved in build 1070:
i.e. All tracks with Genre containing the string 'Podcast' appear in the iPod Podcast node.

Re-opening for clarification:
Are podcasts really synced based on their 'Genre'?
What if the podcast has a different Genre? But is still classified as a podcast in MM (i.e. it has an internal Podcast identifier OR matches the Podcast filter)?

Test note: verify that this works correctly for 'Sync Selected'--users indicated that it didn't in earlier builds.

Yes, it is added in build 1070.

i.e. All subscribed podcasts (doesn't depend on genre) appeared under the podcasts node in Main Tree are synced (as previously were) and in addition in build 1070 also tracks with Genre containing string 'Podcast' are synched too.

Tested 1072:

Synced-Selected Subscribed Podcasts --> The podcasts synced but weren't browsable on the iPod

Synced-selected Tracks where Genre=Podcast, but not subscribed in MM --> AV (2 eurekalogs sent)

Subscribed podcasts synched via Auto-Sync List displayed properly.

Did not try to auto-sync Genre=Podcast.

1. Synced-selected Tracks where Genre=Podcast, but not subscribed in MM --> AV (2 eurekalogs sent)

- It was possibly caused by an Assert() in code (unless EurekaLog shows otherwise) - we are discussing this one with Petr.

2. Synced-Selected Subscribed Podcasts --> The podcasts synced but weren't
browsable on the iPod

- This one remains to be reviewed and fixed.

Yes, thanks.

I have implemented it only for 'Auto-Synch' type synchronization, I forgot to add this also to 'Send to ... device' type synchronization.

Fixed in build 1073.

1. Is also fixed in build 1073 (in case it was what I expected).
