Summary0020996: Tooltip suggestions
Description1. Tree menu button, Playing menu button, Preview menu button, Preview layout button, Menu button in info panel have missing tooltip.
2. Play and Shuffle in popup header should be renamed to Play normally and Play shuffled (as they are in info panel).
3. Play normally button when hovering any item in popup listview has missing tooltip.
4. Toolbar menu button for view options is showing the chosen view in tooltip, e.g. Browser (the same tooltip has the button on its left side); it should have different text since this is not what happens when you click that button, it could be named e.g. "Main panel view" (as it is the corresponding option in View menu), or "View menu", or something like that.
5. All buttons that have assigned hotkeys should have appended that text to the tooltip, AFAIK, Previous/Next view and Search buttons are the only one having it.
6. Minimize to Mini Player should be renamed to Switch to Mini Player.
7. Minimize: Left/Right panel should be renamed to Hide or Close; Minimize is a standard term used for a Windows system button and should not be used for such things; besides, Minimize is not opposite to Show: Left/Right panel that you have in tooltip when the panel is closed.
8. Main menu has missing tooltip (View > Menu bar toggled off).
9. Shuffle button in player has too long tooltip, it covers almost the whole player, there is really no need to explain what this button is doing.
10. Long tooltips should have displayed only shortened text, but they could have added showMore button on the right side; when user clicks on that button, the tooltip could expand to show full text (something like this in VSCode: https://code.visualstudio.com/assets/updates/1_89/hover-verbosity.mp4).

1. Ellipsis/overflow menu buttons, are standard. So it's not needed unless it helps for screen readers in which case 'Menu' would be fine.
2. Agreed
3. Not sure what you mean, but makes sense that 'Play normally' should display if that's what it does
4. I'd leave as is.
5. Great idea, though I expect that this should have it's own bug since it's non-trivial. Leaving for devs to decide.
6. Not sure that a change is needed
7. Agreed (Hide: instead of Minimize: when it comes to panels)
8. Hamburger menu is a standard item. Not needed unless this is helpful for screenreaders in which case 'Menu' is fine (same as 1.).
9. I think that the current info provided is useful
10. Leaving for devs to evaluate feasibility (separate low priority feature for the future?)

Fixed in 3522:
1, 8) for screen readers it has already data-aria-label
2,3) fixed
4) left as is
5) it too complex and risky for now, it will require more extensive preparation across whole application, we can consider it for the future version,
6) left as is
7) fixed
9) left as is
10) I don't think it's a good idea to apply this globally, it could be very irritating. Could be added in the future for some specific tooltips (I am not sure, if any needs this). Current tooltips are display only a do not support any interaction by design.

1, 8. The ellipsis/overflow button is usually the last button on the right side of the toolbar with several buttons on its left side, when there is no room for additional buttons (hence the name "overflow"). Many Windows applications have the ">>" button in such case. By the way, I think the ellipsis are three horizontal dots, not vertical, except maybe for languages with vertical text.

The overflow and hamburger buttons are maybe standard, but you have also Play, Stop, Pause and many other buttons that have been standard for even longer and they all have their own tooltips. Also, you have the overflow buttons in some places with their tooltips, which is not consistent with the mentioned Tree/Playing/Preview buttons. For example, open any album in Grid by (Album) view, click on it and its popup will show the overflow button having "Menu" tooltip.

I don't know any Windows application that have two or more overflow buttons on the main window, but MM could have 3 of them with Tree, 'Playing' and Preview. Your overflow buttons are very unintuitively placed, especially Tree and 'Playing' (which is a thing for another issue). They could blend with the text beneath them causing users to overlook them, and your skins with the omitted borders around these buttons don't help too much in their distinction from surrounding text. Their missing tooltips help even less.

Every Windows application having the ellipsis/overflow and hamburger buttons that is known to me have tooltips for them. In File Explorer and Snipping Tool it is "See more" (ellipsis), in Notepad it is "More options" (ellipsis, but for additional toolbar buttons, not menu), in Calculator, Task Manager and Settings it is "Open Navigation" (hamburger, but opens something like panel, not menu), in MS Edge it is "Settings and more (Alt+F)" (ellipsis), in Firefox it is "Open application menu" (hamburger), in Chrome it is "Customize and control Google Chrome" (overflow).

6. "Minimize to Mini player" sounds to me like pleonasm (Mini... to Mini ...) Besides, I explained why I would avoid the term "Minimize". Media Player has the corresponding tooltip showing just "Mini Player".

9. Speaking about "standard", Shuffle button is standard since appearance of Audio CD players, maybe even longer. That button doesn't require detail explanation what is its purpose. If it requires tooltip with such long explanation, then you have implemented that button/command in unintuitive way.

10. I didn't suggest that tooltips should have showMore button globally, but only these with the long text covering too much of user interface. For example, Shuffle tooltip covering all player buttons, Codecs and Audio Output tooltips covering the whole Options dialog box, and maybe some more that I don't know.
