| Description | Video files cannot be dropped from external programs to the Preview panel to play them, they need to be added to the Playing list previously. VLC adds dropped file to the end of Playlist and starts to play it immediately; PotPlayer/KMPlayer clears the Playlist, adds dropped file to it and starts to play it immediately. | ||||

Preview panel is more for Metadata eg. drag and drop JPG to tag Album art not to start playback for that you D&D to player or Playing list. |

It is called "Preview", with the accent on "view", not "edit", right? The problem is that you use the same panel for three different things: Artwork, video playback and Visualization. If I drag audio or video file to it, I surely don't want to add it to the Album art tag of the selected/playing file. So, I don't see any reason that it cannot behave with such files in the described way, as if they are dragged to the player. I especially don't see any reason why it wouldn't behave like that if the Preview panel shows a playing video or Visualization. In fact, in such case there is no any obvious reason to accept image files for tagging. Also, if it has disabled Allow edits, even if it has displayed artwork, it should not accept drop of image files, since that could lead to the changing of metadata. |
