Summary0018409: Option to perform CD metadata auto-lookup despite CD-Text being included
DescriptionMoving from issue 0018392 : The "Frank Zappa" discs has CD-Text included, so MM5 used the metadata from CD-Text.
LowLander is true that the CD-Text does not include artist name though (for these particular discs).
Both MM4/MM5 performs the CD auto-lookup only when CD-Text isn't included.

We might want to add a config for this though to Options > Metadata lookup

User always right click on Tree an do the FreeDB/MB search or Even Auto tag.

I am not sure taht we even add new option, but auto propose FreeDB/MB results if Basic Info is Missing LIke Artist.

This is good idea, but, I am more thinking to combine Both in case of Missing Info and show Dialog similar to Auto-Tag where user can controll what info will be imported for CD. Thu not sure if it is worth to invest much time in this. It is really getting hard to get PC case with 5.25" external bay.

No additional text is needed. If CD-text is included, it can be presented as the first metadata source on lookup (see below).

That said, this is pretty low priority.

=> but this results in undesired confirmation dialog for every lookup,
i.e. for lookups where CD-Text is present or lookups when Cd-Text is missing and the lookup is from MusicBrainz no dialog is needed..

What's bad about introducing new/test checkbox like
[x] Prefer CD-Text
in which case no internet lookup is needed -- like currently?

Users would probably rather see all of the available metadata since it's impossible to know a priori whether the CD text is complete or not. e.g. in the cases described (where CD text is missing Genre or Artist), if [x] Prefer CD-text is enabled, then MM wouldn't look up / display metadata from MB, even though that would make more sense.

BUT, I agree that this approach could be annoying if CD-Text _does_ contain complete metadata. To avoid the problem you describe, would it make sense for MM to only do the online lookup if CD-text is missing Album Title, Artist, Album Artist, Genre or Year?

Would that obviate the need a 'Prefer CD-text' option?
