Summary0001575: Set new default layout that incorporates Album Art
DescriptionThe current layout doesn't work well because if the Album Art is in the left hand pane, it takes up too much space, and the tree becomes too short.

Possible alternative default settings:
1) Player, Now Playing, Album Art all move to the bottom
2) Tree stays in left hand side (narrower), and Now Playing, Album Art, Player move to right hand side

Setting as 'immediate' because it's a first-hand impression.

Fixed in build 804.
 - Player and Now playing is at the bottom (actualy my favourite position), Album Art window remains on the left side.

Tested in 804 (clean install) and:
-The album art Window does not appear at all
-The Now Playing Window is is blank on the right side because the columns aren't sufficiently filled up. I'd suggest adding Album and Year (to fit a 1024 pixel screen width).

- I didn't plan to show Album Art window by default, do you think it should be shown?
 - This depends on screen resolution used by user, problem with adding new columns is that for many users it's more likely then that the horizontal scrollbar appears which further decreases the vertical space for Now Playing. Therefore I prefer lower default width of columns there.

-Re Album Art: I think it should be shown by default. Users can easily get rid of it if they don't like it.
-Re. the columns in the Now Playing: I agree with you that we should organize it for the lowest common denominator screen resolution, however, it should be for the lowest common denominator screen resolution _using the default layout_. i.e. Assume 1024x768, and add columns until empty space no longer exists.

Fixed in build 805.
 - Album art window is enabled by default.
 - For me Now Playing works correctly as is now. MM doesn't start maximized and so even on 1024x768 NP has appropriate width.

-Album Art now displays in build 805

More fine tuning to do:
-Narrow the size of the lefthand column just enough to cause the 'by date' shortcut to disappear (btw nice touch in making the playlist shortcut not disappear), and adjust the size of the Album Art window so that it's exactly square within the column.
-I know you disagree, however, please take my word on it--if we're placing the Now Playing window on the position that it's in, it should have additional info so that it's not empty when the screen is maximized.

From your description I think we don't see the same default dimensions of the window, do you have HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Songs-DB\Interface registry key removed before trying this?

In any case I would wait with further changes here until we get some feedback, maybe we will make even some more complex ones.

Re-opening and assigning to myself. I don't want to lose track of this issue.

I think it looks fine as is for release. I would just make 1 tweak:
The border between the Tree/AA Window and the Tracklist should be moved to the left as much as possible--right up to the Playlist icon in the navigation menu.
This will:
-waste less space
-make the AA window closer in size to the default dimensions of standard album art.
