Summary0014747: Selection fails for Artist & Album Artists (regression)
DescriptionWhen attempting to to Configure 'Auto-sync server content', selection fails when selecting content within "Artist & Album Artist".

1 In MMA select Auto-sync server content
2 Choose Music > Artist & Album Artist
3 Attempt to select an Artist that contains other albums
--> Selection fails (the checkbox gets selected and then deselected)
4 Instead of selecting the artist, try clicking it
--> The artist contains a bunch of other unrelated artists (instead of the Albums by that Artist)!

Tested on multiple devices running MMA 1.3.2. The problem doesn't occur when syncing against MMW 4.1.

EDIT: I tested on a clean install of MM5 in addition to an upgrade scenario. Both exhibited this issue.

Note: in MM5 There is no "Artist and Album Artist" Selection tree node under Music where MMW have it.

Added Pics from MM5 Thread from last night.

Remote configuration fixed in build 2100.

Gonna check with others whether the missing "Artist & Album Artist" node in MM5 UI was intention or just a TODO

But looking at the "Artists" node in MM5 it behaves rather as "Artist & Album Artist" in MM4. So probably it was an intention to have just 'Artists' node?

I never really liked the long text of 'Artists & Album Artists', which this node probably makes most sense to be used. For this reason, I like the current MM5 implementation, i.e.:

Artists node - contains all Artists and Album Artists (default shown)
Album Artists node - contains Album Artists only (default hidden)

This should be enough imho, I'm not even sure we _need_ the Album Artists node. In case MM4 users find this an issue in MM5, we can keep it there, or even add Track Artists node (default hidden), but it only adds unnecessary complexity imho.

I tend to Jiri, also don't like the MM4 approach of three artist node types and has been always confusing for me. BTW. Is there any other app having 'Artists & Album Artists' node? I guess it is always called just 'Artists' ? I also agree to remove the 'Album Artist' node (hidden by default) and leave just 'Artists'. If we go this way then we should keep only 'Artists' node also in case of the remote sync-list config.

Sounds good (keeping 'Artists'=Artist&Album Artists, and 'Album Artists'). I for one never used the old 'Artists' node either.

The only issues that might crop up may be from:
- Users with classical music collections (I'm not sure about this)
- Users who rely on d&d for renaming since d&d in the Artist&AlbumArtist node isn't totally clear because it renames a combination of Artists _and_ Album Artists (but I expect that fewer users will use d&d in MM5).

Ok, so generally speaking there's no change required. Assigning to Petr anyway, to review whether everything works fine (there were some possible issues mentioned over Skype).

The sync bug is resolved in build 2100. Just a question: in the WiFi Sync config I can still choose from among: Artists, Album Artists, and Artist&Album Artist nodes--even though MM5 doesn't display the latter.

Is that a bug?

Rusty, I don't see them (just Artists is there) on current sources (+ tested 2101), couldn't it be your test error?
Maybe you are testing MM4 server?

In build 2104, I no longer see the problematic Artist & Album Artists node, so it's possible there was a test error. However, in this build I only see the Artists node. Was the Album Artists node intentionally disabled?

Yes, current 'Artists' node works like 'Artist & Album Artists' in MM4 and include both artists & album artists.

I didn't reverify this since Peke has already tested the functionality. But I did review the design/consistency between this and Collections and it looks good. Closing.
