Summary0002131: iRiver H10 (MTP) synchronization: playlists don't synch + other issue
Description1) In testing the iRiver H10 I found that it's impossible to synch playlists to the device. They appear to sync, but when I try to navigate to a playlist on the device, I can't find it!

I'll post the log generated by WM Log as well as an MM log.

-----

2) In addition, users have mentioned that MediaMonkey deletes tracks from their H10's even when MM is configured not to. I cannot replicate this but am noting it so that you keep this in mind as you look at the logs.

-----

3) Also, I noticed that when I synched a playlist from within MM, and browsed the device via MM, the Year and Rating fields do not appear in MM (all other fields seem to display correctly).
Additional Informationnote: For the WMLOG file, the playlist that was synched to the device with WMP is 'Vynalogica 1 (2003)' and contains 3 tracks. All the other tracks on the device are part of the default image, so I can't delete them.

For the debug log, the playlist that was synched to the device in MM was 'Death Cab for Cutie'. I synched 3 times in succession and then tried to delete one of the tracks.

I haven't found anything wrong in the debug logs, the playlist seems to be properly uploaded. In order to check out what can cause this, it would be nice to upload a playlist to H10 using WMP, check out if it's working fine and then generate status log of the device using the tool I sent yesterday.

As for deletion of tracks, wasn't it reported for versions prior alpha 4? H10's device ID wasn't properly handled, it caused many instances of the device in MM and it could have been reason for these problems.

The last comment seems to be incomplete?!

1)
I've posted two new MMLog files that show the differences between MM synching a playlist and WMP.

MMLog_WMP_Vynalogica_playlist: WMP synchronized a playlist called Vynalogica1 (2003) to the device, and I verified that it was navigable on the device.

MMLog_MM_DCFC plans_playlist: MM synchronized a playlist called 'DCFC plans' to the device. It could not be seen at all using the device (No playlists synched by MM can be viewed/played on the device).

2) Re. deletion of tracks, you're probably right.

3) I've updated the description. Essentially, the Year and Ratings fields do not show up in MM when browsing the device contents.

Fixed in build 910.
 1) I can't be sure without the device, but I made some changes, hopefully it's ok now.
 3) The log indicates that Ratings aren't supported (they possibly are in the device, but WMDM interface doesn't support them). Year should work, I have no idea why it doesn't for you.

Tested 910 and:

1) Playlists still aren't synchronized. I've generated a new MMLog file in which 2 playlists (DCFC plans, and Real Kids Music) have been synched. But neither appears in the MM tree (under playlists) or is playable via the device.

Possible issue: does MM export <playlist>.pla files to the device? That is the format that is used by WMP.

3) Year metadata is still not exported to the device. (when viewed in Windows in Windows Explorer, year always appears as '2097').

log is on the ftp server (MMLog_2 Playlists_build 910.txt)

Verified in 912.

Note: issue 3 is not resolved, however, I believe that it's a problem on the iRiver device and not MM, since tracks that came with the iRiver device display an incorrect year in Explorer as well (unless MM corrupted the db).
