Summary0001954: Syncml synchronization plugin
DescriptionAlmost all non-MS Smartphone phones that support data synchronization (All nokia phones, new Sony Ericsson phones, Samsumg phones, etc.), do so via the syncml standard. Already, a large number of phones support MP3 playback, however, it is expected that this will become a mainstream feature later this year.

If it isn't a huge effort, I would recommend that we try to fit development of a syncml plugin into the 2.5 timeframe. The plugin would be very similar to our default USBMS device plugin, except that the underlying protocal would be syncml.

This would be a unique and _very_marketable_ feature, since as far as I know, the only other application that is telephone-enabled is iTunes for iTunes motorola phones (not yet released), and WMP for Windows Smartphones (I'm not positive of this, but assume it to be the case).

For a lot of phone info, check out gsmarena which shows that most newly introduced phones include SyncML support.

Apparently, this isn't used for file synchronization. Re-assigning to Rusty to contact Nokia.

I've put in a request to:

Another possibility is to partner with a company like:

Still trying to reach Nokia...
