Summary | 0001657: Cut and Paste of 'images' to Album Art windows
Description | If the user has browsed a web site, located an image, and then right-clicked 'Copy Image', the user should be able to: a) Paste it into the Album Art window b) Paste it into the Album Art pane of the Track Properties dialog Possible implementation: a) In the Album Art window, below 'Add Image' there would be a 'Paste Image' option b) In the Album Art pane of the Track Properties dialog, there would be a 'Paste' button between 'Add' and 'Remove'

Although I agree that it would be nice, there are some problems. If I omit technical details, there is a problem that currently we could add images only to tags this way because such pasted image doesn't have any location in user's PC. This could possibly only work if we define a location where to store newly downloaded images. |
Changed to 'urgent', since 0001656 will satisfy much of this need. |
Fixed in build 922. - I found a way how to do it and so it is implemented now (in both cases by right-click and Paste command). |
I tried this for numerous tracks that were missing album art and could not get it to work. I copied album art from Amazon/Allmusic and no matter what, the 'Paste' command in MM's Album Art window was always greyed out (and yes, I tested that the Album Art was copied by successfully attempting to pasted it into word). Note: in all cases, the same art could be added successfully via drag and drop. |
I retested and it works fine for me. Note that MM can't accept all clipboard formats and therefore a correct 'copy' command must be used, it means: - for IE: use right-click 'Copy', not 'Copy Shortcut' - for FF: use right-click 'Copy Image Location', not 'Copy Image' |
I should have specified: I was testing with firefox. Upon retesting: 1) IE works as expected 2) Firefox doesn't work at all: . a) When pasting from Copy Image: 'Paste' is greyed out . b) When pasting from 'Compy Image Location: The default 'No Album Art' graphic gets added as an Album Art image. Note: Although neither a) nor b) works in Firefox, from a usability perspective, users would expect 'Copy Image' to work rather than 'Copy Image Location'. After all it's the Image itself that they believe they are pasting. Tested in Firefox 1.0.6. Re-assigning back to Jiri--I've posted a debug log (line 592 is where I was pasting from firefox and nothing happened). |
Fixed in build 924. - A lot of work, but now MM accepts also Bitmap clipboard format, i.e. pictures from arbitrary source (including e.g. graphics editors). |
