Summary0002112: Cannot refresh CD contents after some Erase/Burn cycles
DescriptionIn some cases, when a CD needs to be erased (e.g. because it has been Finalized), then after the CD has been burnt, the contents of the CD do not refresh and thus it appears to the user that the CD did not burn properly.

Example:
1) Burn TAOA (2 tracks by B-52s) -- works
2) Burn TAOFinal (2 tracks by the Beatles) -- works but CD is not auto-detected
3) Burn TAOA (2 tracks by Brian Wilson)
--> Prompt to Erase CD
4) Erase CD
--> Burn dialog re-appears
5) User clicks 'Burn' to burn the CD
--> CD Burns, but the contents of the CD cannot be viewed in MM (the CD still appears to contain the B52's and the Beatles)
--> If the user clicks <refresh> in MM, the CD contents do not update
--> If the user clicks <refresh> in Windows Explorer, the CD contents do not update
--> The only way to get the CD contents to update is to Eject the CD and re-insert it

Could it be that there some sort of CD Cache that MM doesn't empty after an Erase operation?

Assigned to Rusty in order to check whether other applications can handle this situation better.

I did some additional testing of this issue and found that Nero and Deepburn both do not have this problem. Note: Nero didn't eject the disc after burning, however, Deepburner did.

In contrast, after burning a data CD/DVD (I didn't test with Audio CDs) with MM, it is always impossible to see the contents of the disc unless the user ejects the disc and then re-inserts it.

Short of fixing the problem, a possible workaround is to enable "Eject Media after the burn process" by default.

Afaik we can't do more about it, there's an attempt to refresh media info after burning. Maybe Nero does some trick or it burnt disc in a little different mode?

Assigning to Ludek to change the default.
