Summary0001983: Create good default settings for Auto-DJ
DescriptionThis is a placeholder for Rusty to define once Auto-DJ is testable (next build).

We may want to create a new default playlist to serve as the basis for Auto-DJ.

We may want to set the Auto-DJ with defaults so that it works right away.

The current defaults are pretty good and would result in the Auto-DJ being useful right away. I would recommend 2 small changes though:

1) Change the default playlist from:

Favorites - Top 50 --> Favorites - Not Heard Recently

This will result in less repetition in the default setting.

2) Change the Favorites - Not Heard Recently playlist as follows:

Sort: Last Played (A..Z) ---> Last Played (A..Z) ; Random

This small change prevents the artists from being played in alphabetical order.

1) Sounds logical, but my point of view is that Auto-DJ is for filling up NP in case it becomes empty mainly in Party mode. And for such cases 'Top 50' makes more sense because really good tracks get played. In case of 'Not Heard Recently' some trash can get to NP which isn't desirable. For that reason I'd recommend to leave it as is.

2) I'm not sure why, Auto-DJ randomizes tracks by default, so there's no need to do so. Also, this is a non-trivial change for current installations and so unless you think it's important, I'd leave it as is.

1) OK, mainly because top 50 will return good tracks even if the user hasn't rated the tracks.

2) I just figured out why this is occuring. It seems that the auto-playlist isn't being refreshed. i.e. I'm using 'Favorites - Not Heard Recently (1hr)' as the source for the auto-dj and the auto-dj is using the SAME playlist everytime (i.e. it's treating the auto-playlist as a static playlist). I'll enter another bug for this.

After further testing, I'm finding that the default setting results in so much repetition that it is annoying. Unfortunately, this will be the case for either of the following defaults for a new user:
a) Favorites Top 50 (because there are only 50 favorites and they keep repeating. The problem is even worse for a person trying out MediaMonkey--if they've listened to only a few tracks, those tracks keep repeating).

b) Favorites Not Heard Recently (because users may not have rated many tracks)

Thus, I would leave the current playlist there, but change the default to 'Entire Library'.

I totally agree, that is also my suggestion to change the default to 'Entire Library', cause I have optimized Auto-DJ for this. The selection from 'Entire Library' is much faster than from 'accesible tracks' playlist.

Fixed in build 917.
