Summary | 0003407: Search of Multiple Definition Fields based on Primary field value
Description | Current implementation is that when the user searches for multiple definition fields (or any field for that matter): Search for <Field>=x1, x2 means Search for <Field>=x1 or <Field>=x2 Search for <Field>|=x1, x1 means Search for <Field>|=x1 or <Field>|=x2 and, if the user wants to search for <Field>=x1 and x2, they must enter 2 separate queries in the search dialog. BUT: with this implementation the user is a bit limited as they can't do the following: Search for <Field>=x1 for the first/primary value of the field only Search for <Field>|=x1 for the first/primary value of the field only Search for <Field>=x1 and x2, AND <Primary value of Field>|=x2 Best example where this affects me is: Search for Genre|=Classical, Comedy, Audiobook AND Primary Genre|=Children A simple way of meeting this requirement would be to add the following to the Search criteria dialog: - For any multiple value field, split the property into 2 i.e. Genre & Genre (primary); Mood & Mood (primary); etc. where 'Genre' refers to all Genres and and 'Genre (primary)' refers specifically to the first Genre.
