Summary0018587: Pinned nodes actions / context menus don't always work as expected
Description1)The Pinned List Vie Element is unavailable in Browser View in Folders node and the Locations sub-node
2) The Properties context menu option for a Pin is enabled but does nothing
3) The default click action for a track pin is to play the track, even if Tools>Options>Player "Default Action When Stopped" is set to a non-play option

Usefulness of Pin facility is reduced by the following deficits:
4) A Pinned location is not available as a Send To target in the Send To menu options
5) Cannot assign a HotKey to navigate to a Pin or the Pinned List
6) There are no GoTo pin options in the View menu

TagsNo tags attached.

1)The Pinned List View element doesn't make sense for the Folders node because that's external to the library (and pinned items are library items). Re. the Locations sub-node, it's intended primarily for root Collection nodes (afaik it's not available for any subnodes).
2) Any command that can't be used should be disabled. Properties can be used for certain pinned nodes, so the command should only be enabled for nodes for which it's relevant.
3) Agreed.

Usefulness of Pin facility is reduced by the following deficits:
4) Tracked at 0016213
5) Tracked at 0019386
6) I don't understand this request.

MM5 has no Favourite Locations facility, so Pinning is a workaround ... eg. to find the Music Share every time via Folders>MicrosoftWindows>WorkGroup>NAS>Share is a lot of peck and hunt clicking ... Home>Pin is a lot quicker ... Tip courtesy of LowLander on the forum. .. Mostly used to open a tab at my Music Share, as a drop zone when moving tracks to my NAS.

So it does has use beyond library items.

4) your comment there says that you cannot see much point in this suggestion ... I don't see how to use SendTo to move files to a NAS .. ie. only local drives are in the Folder (Move) options ... My NAS is not there, and there is no browse facility ... a new option ToPinnedLocation> would be good addition IMO .. it opened a list of pinned "locations"

6) Just a thought bubble really ... The current situation is that Pinning is a MM5 addition, without a really impressive deliverable (IMO) ... Pinning "Locations" does add some extra value ... I thought that Pinning tab setups may be some extra value that could be added ... maybe every Friday evening I like to kick back and listen to some Classical Music .. I open the Classical>Composer>Beethoven in Browser View. and sort by Date ... it would good if I could right click that tab, and create a pin that persists all of that positioning info. .. ... The View menu could have a new option for GoToPinnedTab which offers a list of tab setups that i pinned
