0020438: Filelist doesn't show album arts for some files in Folders node

I have a folder with files from double-disc album, all files are inside the same folder (1xx - ... and 2xx - ...), and there is one Folder.jpg file in that folder, but files from the first disc have one album name and files from the second disc have the same name with added "(Disc 2)". The album art is not displayed for any file from that album in any view (List, Grid...)

I have another folder with files with the single-disc album, there is Folder.jpg in that folder, all files have entered Artist/Album tags except one file that has these data missing. That album shows album art for all files from that folder just fine, even in List (by Album) and Grid (by Album), although in these two views they are grouped as two albums.

I don't understand why the album art is not displayed for files in the first folder, but is displayed fine for the second folder.

In both cases Album Artist tag is missing. These folders are not entered into the Library, but selected in the Folders node.

0022140: Paths are displayed in 'long format' rather than simpler short format

0022102 fixed the bug that tracks could be duplicated in the library when scanned or moved depending on whether the user chose to use /Users//Music or /Home/Music.

This has been fixed, but now, when the user attempts to perform an operation (e.g. Scan, Move, etc.) on /Home/Music, MMM will save the path (e.g. in the Scan list, MRU list) as /Volumes/Mac SSD/Users//Music rather than the shorter/simpler /Home/Music format (despite the fact that the tracks appear in the DB as /Users/kids/Music).

Wouldn't it be preferable if MMM consistently used the same shorter/simpler format for the directories in the Scan list / MRU list / Organize mask / etc. ? Or is there a technical reason for retaining the 'long' format?

0022112: Main window can disappear when non-modal dialogs are in use

If the user opens a non-modal dialog in MMM (e.g. auto-tag, or other 'undocked' windows) it can result in the disappearance of the main window:

1 Run MMM
2 Select a track and initiate auto-tag
3 Minimize MMM
--> Auto-tag dialog remains open
4 Attempt to access the main MMM window by clicking MMM in the taskbar
--> It doesn't open! The only way to regain access to the main MMM window is to close the auto-tag dialog and _then_ click MMM in the taskbar.

If I understand macOS UI guidelines correctly, Auto-tag is a 'Modeless Window' (Panel), and as such, should be set to 'Hide on Deactivate' which would prevent this from occurring.

0022415: MediaMonkey can take a long time to start/restart/terminate

In build 3526, MMM seems to take a long time to restart or terminate:

1) On startup, the splashscreen displays for about 6 seconds
2) When changing language it can take 30s+ to restart
3) When closing it takes 6 seconds to shut down. It takes even longer (about 10s) when shutting down if the Auto-tag dialog is open.

0022101: Add/Rescan: It should be more obvious how to scan Music/Video

Currently when the user clicks Add/Rescan > Add location > Local storage
--> Add folders dialog presents
> [ ] Documents
> [ ] Mac SSD
> [ ] Home

However this can be confusing for users since:
- Documents typically doesn't contain media
- Mac SSD contains media, but only after navigating to the Users > > Music directory
- Home contains the > Music directory

To facilitate the addition of media to the library, when the user attempts to Add folders, MMM should probably list only the following, and in the order described:
> Home
> Mac SSD

0020360: Checked items in the menu should not have the whole item "highlighted", but only icon

There are several menus with items that have checked states without classic radio/check buttons, but the whole menu item looks as it is "hovered" or "highlighted". Those are Visualization, Main panel view and List toolbar dropdown. I suppose it is your way to make them visually distinctive from other menu items, because you cannot use radio/check icons for those menu items that already have their own icons.

In my opinion, such look is not intuitive. Just look how is the View menu confusing with 3 different menu rows, beside of the standard (non-checked) items: 1. checked, 2. hovered and 3. heading. I don't know for any other program that have such menu items. But I know many programs that has such thing better solved with only the icon of checked menu item that is "sunken", i.e. highlighted. Even MM4 had it.

There are many users that have poor vision, or maybe they are color-blind or have some other visual disability. Because of them Windows has these Contrast themes that I mentioned in another issue. Those themes use only limited number of very distinctive colors. Your View menu with 4 very similar background colors doesn't have such users on mind. I am currently working on my own high contrast skin and I am not so sure how I will represent 4 different background colors in just one single menu with that limited set of colors available by Windows themes.

In MMW, the 'Pulsing Pause' addon visibly moves in time with the music.
In MMM, it doesn't.

This is a bit surprising since in MMM, the visualization _does_ move it time with the music, so I suspect that something in the addon or the API that the addon uses isn't optimized.

0022093: Visualization: minimize button off-centre / missing

When the visualization is active full window or full screen, the button to minimize it back to the Preview window renders incorrectly or doesn't display at all.

1 Activate visualization in the Preview window
-->a) Full window button doesn't appear right-justified!
2 Click the Full window button
-->b) Visualization takes up the full MMM window, but the 'Minimize to Preview' button appears on the right side around 1/3 of the way down (it should appear in the upper-right corner)!
3 Set MMM to full-screen (using the green button on the upper left)
-->c) 'Minimize to Preview' button no longer appears!
(the user must first get out of full screen mode, and _then_ click the 'Minimize to Preview' button)

0022414: Visualization in Full window could stop showing player and buttons on hover after Pause

- Set Visualization to Artwork;
- start playing a song;
- click on the Full window button -> Visualization will cover the entire window, the title bar is without menu; if you hover mouse over window it will display the player on the bottom and Normal window / Full screen buttons on the top-right corner, if you move mouse outside of the window these will disappear after a few seconds, as it should;
- move mouse over window until player appears on the bottom and click on the Pause button;
- move mouse outside of window and wait a few seconds until player disappears;
- move mouse over window -> the player will not appear on the bottom, nor the buttons on the top-right corner, the title bar still doesn't show menu.
- double click on the artwork in window -> it has the same effect as Full screen button, but still no player and buttons on hover;
- double click on the artwork again -> it has the same effect as Full window button, but still no player and buttons on hover, however the title bar will display menu;
- choose Play from Player menu -> the player and buttons will appear on hover again.

0022413: Preview panel is reduced and cannot enlarge after Full window of Playing node / Album Art view

- Choose Playing node / Album Art view;
- set Preview panel in the Left side bar beneath the Tree panel and make it square like on my video;
- click on the Full window or Full screen button in the top-right corner of the main panel;
- click on the Normal window button -> the height of Preview panel is reduced vertically and cannot be enlarged until restart of the program.

0020971: Main panel is not resized well when changing size of skin

Take a List (by Album) as an example, as on the screenshots. Here is what should be resized:
1. width of the right side bar;
2. height of the Preview panel in left side bar;
3. height of Info panel;
4. width of all columns in the main filelist and Playing list including Artwork.

All these things are set by program and cannot be done in skin. The 4-th one is most problematic because there are too many columns that should be resized manually after each changing of size.

The issue is more noticeable when sizes are much different, for example when going from 12px to 24px or even 36px. You cannot see it with your skins when you change @baseFontSize from 13px to 15px, so I got the later screenshots with the modified info.json of Material Design, adding just this:

- Start program and choose any folder in the Folders node;
- choose Grid view;
- open Configure View for Grid -> Choose fields by default has set 1 Title and others none;
- set Choose fields 2 Artist;
- confirm with OK two times -> grid has displayed both fields, as it should;
- choose any folder from Entire Library / Location;
- choose Grid view -> grid has displayed only Title;
- choose any folder from Folders node, even the same as on the first step -> grid has displayed only Title.

Maybe this doesn't make sense for nodes with files from the same artist, but if I have a folder with many files by different artists (e.g. singles that don't belong to albums), I would like to see at least added Artist to the Title, just like we see Album Artist below the Album name underneath the artwork in the Grid (by Album) view.

0022388: Artwork is saved even when the user may not expect it to be saved

At 0022379 we implemented a temporary solution for cases in which albumart.jpg overwrites existing albumart.jpg in the file's folder is saved right away, however, the solution included a hack that when this occurs, the 'Save' button in the Properties dialog isn't enabled (because the albumart.jpg file has actually already been saved). This isn't the best solution because MMA handles this particular case differently than all other Property edits.

The correct solution is for lookups to be 'temporary' untll the user saves them. (and if we need to prompt the user as to where to save the file, we can do so _after_ they click 'Save').

Since writing to tags will be supported, we need to provide a way to save an image similar to MMW.

In MM5, this function is called the "Add Cover" dialog box, and it appears after the album art has been found and downloaded.

-Save image to tag and to file folder

For MMA purposes, I would first opt for a simplified version containing only the image location and image filename.
Additionally, I would add an autosave feature that, after downloading the album art, would skip the "dialog" and save the artwork directly according to the set preferences.

0022406: Properties and Options should be the last items in menus

There is no standard for such thing, but many applications have Properties and Options as the last items in their respective menus (Edit and Tools), including the context menu.

Such location of these items is intuitive for many users, just as the Exit option is intuitive to be the last option of the File menu, or About as the last item of the Help menu.

Convert format and Analyze volume options in the context menu should be moved up above Properties, so that they are grouped with the other options that are also located in the Tools menu. Such options in the context menu should be differentiated from the Properties option with added a menu separator.

Options menu item could be after Addons in the Tools menu, similarly as you had in MM4.

Columns settings on the Fields/Columns page of the Options dialog box are not intuitive and should have a better explanation, e.g. in tooltip.

What do you mean by "Define columns for"? If it is about view settings, it should be in Configure View dialog box, not in the Options.

If I shrink the Configure View dialog box vertically, the Summary controls could overlap the Columns controls, as on the first screenshot.

If I shrink the Configure View dialog box vertically a bit less then previously, with several fields visible in the Available and Displayed lists, the rest of fields could be invisible, as on the second screenshot. Such lists don't have scroll bars, and mouse wheel doesn't function in them, i.e. they don't behave like lists.

0020440: Grid view should have displayed header and sorting ability for track-oriented views (Folders and Location)

If I have a folder with many files by different artists (i.e. singles that don't belong to albums), I would like to be able to sort them by different criteria, just as with the files in List view. At least by Artist and Title, but maybe even by Genre, Date, Original Date and Added.

It is already mentioned in another issue (0016714) that is marked as resolved, but I cannot reopen that issue (Access Denied).

I think Original date should be added to the sorting of albums in Grid (by Album) view. For example, I could tag an album with Original date of the LP release, and Date of the CD (extended/remastered) release, and then I would like to sort albums as LPs, not as CDs.

Original date should be also added to the Choose fields dropdown options in Configure View dialog that is implemented in b3526 (0020441 issue).

There is a request to toggle off Rating in Grid Album View : https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=104781

Currently, there is no option to hide ratings in grid album view. For people who don't really use ratings or just don't want to see them, a toggle would really be helpful. It makes it a lot harder to see, especially when the size for each album has been set to small.
