Summary0009318: iOS 5 devices disappear in some cases
DescriptionThere are several reports of devices disappearing from the tree with recent builds (even after having installed Quicktime). Scenarios described are that:
a) iPhone 4 / iPad 2 disappears from tree partway through sync
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=65871
b) iPhone 4s on iOS5 disappears sometime after it initially appears in the tree
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=65908

And here's a case in which the device doesn't appear in the tree at all:
c) iPad 2 doesn't appear in tree (Quicktime is installed?)
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=65923
Additional InformationNote: there are a couple of other reports of devices _not_ appearing in the tree at all, however, this may be due to a Quicktime problem.
d) iPhone 3GS doesn't appear in MM (might be because Quicktime isn't installed?)

I am waiting for another log, but I found something that could cause the problem although I haven't been able to replicate the issue.

Fixed in 1487.

This is still unresolved and I finally found some steps to repro and reasons for this.

It is related to issue 0009322: iOS5 sync issues when iTunes Wi-Fi Sync is enabled

1. Enable
[x] Sync with this iPod over Wi-Fi
in device options in iTunes.

2. Make sure that the iPod is connected to a local wi-fi network

2. Connect the iPod via USB and you will see it in MM interface

3. Disable the wi-fi network in the iPod

=> after 30 seconds iPod disappears from MM interface
