Note that for Media Sharing we should keep the defaults as CBR, because VBR causes problems for Sony TV that needs to have an exact file size estimation beforehand otherwise it fails for on-the-fly auto-conversions FLAC->MP3 ( issue 0007489 ) |

I suggest that we change these defaults before we release 4.1. |

I would suggest to keep the defaults as CBR because of the reasons explined in my last note (0007890:0025764). Is there any significant reason to change them to VBR? |

I wrote to change the defaults only for Sync and Manual Conversion/Ripping (i.e. leave Media Sharing as is). The reason for this is because the default quality is quite poor by today's standards. |
