Summary0007418: D&D files from device to MediaMonkey Library isn't represented correctly
DescriptionWhen attempting to copy files from an attached USB MS device (tested using the USB MS plugin), an error occurs and files fail to copy: "An error occured while moving x to y. Do you want to try again?"

The exact same configuration works fine in MM3 (usually--even in MM3 d&d sometimes generates the error, but Copy and Paste always works. In contrast it always fails in MM4).

Note: possibly related issue--some tracks that were dragged/dropped somehow got added to the MM library!?

Note: all operations were from the Folders node on the device to the Music/Location node in MM.

Note: when I Cut and Paste into the 'Entire Library' node (instead of into the Music Collection), the operation succeeds. So it seems that the problem is that MM doesn't like files to be added into a Collection node.

Rusty, I supposed that by "USB MS plugin" you mean d_USBMass1.dll?

I tested with the plugin and both MM3 and MM4 moves the track dragged from tracklist (Device -> Folders -> Any folder) to a node (Music -> Location -> Any Folder), but it still shows the track in tracklist until it is refreshed by F5. And yes, the track is added to library.

It seems that I cannot reproduce your error, what are your exact steps?
What exactly the error message says, I mean what is the X and what is the Y ?

Cannot replicate--resolving. I assume it was a test error.

Re-opening. I can't replicate the issue exactly as originally reported, but may have found the root cause.

It seems that MM sometimes, somehow, mixes up the drive letter of the Device with the drive letters used in the main library (see screen capture). My guess is that the original bug occured because MM was attempting to copy tracks onto themselves because of this error. Here's how to reproduce:

1) Plug in usb key and set USB Plugin to Drive letter I (and disable the MTP entry created for that device). Disconnect, and then plug in the device so that it is recognized by the USB plugin as device I.

2) Copy tracks to the device

3) From New Device > Folders > Music > .... select several tracks and Drag and Drop them, _while_pressing_CTRL_ onto Music > Location > ... Temp > Test

--> The selected files are copied to the library BUT the representation of those files in the device node changes so that the device node now indicates that the files on the device are in the library!!
