Summary0006465: File Associations configuration at install should be simpler / comprehensive
DescriptionIn MM 3.2, the installer includes a hard-coded list for file association configuration.

In MM 4.0, there are many more file types, and different categories of file types. These are displayed in a consistent manner as described in the mockup in bug 0005953.

The installer for MM 4 should either
a) remove the current hardcoded association UI and instead force the user to configure the options that are available in Options > OS integration OR
b) update the UI so that it's in a format that is consistent.

The first option is preferable.

I would prefer a)
the reason is that I don't like overfilled installers. I believe that most users want to install app without any prompt and then change default values in options (if needed).

If you agree then assign to me for implementation (both 0005953 and 0006042 have been already implemented)

Ludek, I agree with you--we should minimize what's included in the installer.

BUT: if we include this in the app, then it's important that the user be prompted to choose these values when MM is first run, just as they should also choose which folders should be scanned.

Fixed in build 1318.

i.e. Removed File association page from the installer and added launch of the
Options->OS Integration page as the first time run action just before showing the Add/Re-scan dialog.

Re-opening this. It was fixed, but the usability is problematic as there's no UI explaining why the dialog appears when MM is first run.

This was fixed by the new install/first run wizard.
