Summary0017805: Podcast downloads run as a background process without status indication
DescriptionSometimes, attempts to close MM5 result in the message that 'Background processes are running, do you want to terminate them' even though the hourglass/status bar doesn't show any indication of the background process.

This often occurs when Podcasts are downloading in the background (hence the increased memory utilization and message on close), but MM isn't indicating this in the status bar (note: I've noticed this most often when automatic volume leveling is enabled and soon after the podcasts have invisibly downloaded, the 'hourglass' indicator shows that volume is being analyzed for various podcasts episodes).

In the associated log, MM started and then after 1-2 minutes, the hourglass indicator appeared (I didn't capture the message that appears on termination, but I believe that the background process was running). Also, somewhat strangely, it was taking over a minute to analyze the volume for each track. This may be a separate bug (or it may be caused by podcasts downloading concurrently with volume analysis).

EDIT: This issue was originally raised at 0016769, but I'm leaving this bug to track it separately since the 2 bugs track silghtly different issues.

After user initiates the close (and before closing) MM5 checks whether there is a visible task running -- by visible task I mean the task when there is spinning circle (hourglass) on the toolbar (and associated task progress on the bottom). So yes: analyzing volume _is_ considered as background task.

Be it updating file tags , analyzing volume, fetching artist info or loading large tracklist-- these all are considered as "background task" atm.
The assumption is that in this case user can see what MM is doing on background and can decide whether he wants to terminate the tasks.
e.g. Going to Music > File to Edit > Deadlinks node it takes usually minutes for MM5 to check all files for existence and show the full final list, dutning that time there is "Reading files.." background task
and if user accidentaly initiate closing of MM5 then it is asking him to confirm termination of this task. This is useful and correct IMO (and wasn't case in MM4).

So the issue here is just 0017679 -- i.e. hourglass should have always associated status/progress bar on the bottom (if that's not the case already).
