Summary0016350: It is unclear what half-checked state for a collection/node means + wording changes
DescriptionAs raised here by Barry: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=95923
Go to "Collections & Views", there is the 'Visible' column and some of the collections have the half-checked state.
It means "visible if not empty", but this is not indicated anywhere in the UI and thus users have no idea what does it mean.

Maybe a tootip would clarify it ?
The same issue has been always in MM4.

Similar problem is in the Collection options dialog, there is "Visible in MainTree: [-]"
1) "Visible in MainTree" is no longer accurate wording as MM5 can be navigated with media tree completelly disabled
2) It is unclear what does [-] mean.

See:

Raising the priority because of the wording changes needed.

0) Tooltip for 'half selection': Visible if content exists
1) Re 'Visible in Media Tree': It should be changed to 'Visibility'
2) In this dialog, rather than using a checkbox the options should be: Visible always, Visible if content exists (from the string above), Disabled

3) In Collection Options:
a) the 'Views' tab doesn't really do anything or make much sense since Views aren't collection-specific but rather node-specific. Would it make sense to get rid of this tab?
b) Similarly, does the 'Columns' tab make sense since Columns are set per View (e.g. the Columns that appear in Music > All Tracks [ilst] are different than those which appear in Music > All tracks [List (by album)] ?

4) In 'Sub-nodes and Views,
a) the header bar's checkbox is malformed
b) It's not clear that Views can be edited by double-clicking a sub-node. An 'edit' icon should be added to the right of the Up/Down arrows.

5) In Options > Collections & Views
a) There's a bunch of extra space between 'Visible' and 'Content to display' columns
b) There's no way to edit Views associated with nodes that aren't Collections (e.g. Folders, Playlists). This might be complex for nodes such as Playlists which need to be configured separately for both Playlists and Playlist containers.

btw, I vaguely remember seeing MediaTree or MediaNode somewhere else in the UI (a term that should probably be changed) but have searched to find it without success. Do you see something like that in the code?

All of the above makes sense to me and should be fixed for 5.0 with exception for 5b) that should be probably pushed to 5.1

6) I see 'MediaTree Nodes' term in Home > Sub-views

All of the items are rather for Petr (all is his code), so assign to him once you suggest wording for item 6)

5b) Agreed (it will probably be post 5.0)

6) MediaTree Nodes --> Media Nodes

Fixed all except 5b ... resolving. Feel free to reopen and set target to 5.1 (for 5b) once changes are checked.

Verified 0016350.

Closing since 5b) can't be addressed until we resolve related issues in 0015926.
