Summary0014435: WASAPI: Exclusive mode do not lock output format
DescriptionWhen using WASAPI and you set Exclusive mode then when you pause track and you windows output is set to 24/192 MMW on resume playback in some cases corrupts output buffer and garble playback instead to re-sample set output to correct format.

I tested issue on my Tascam 2x2 Sound card and unfortunately I can't set it more than 24/96 in order to test it fully, but it doesn't happen on my PC.

Realtek integrated sound didn't helped due the different driver/hardware architecture.

NOTE: Disabling Exclusive mode fixed it for user.

I tested exclusive mode (192 kHz / 24 bits / 2 channels) and couldn't replicate the issue.

Assigned to Jiri (author of our WASAPI plugin) to review whether there can be an issue in our code. Otherwise probably a KB article should be added?

The provided debug log doesn't contain any MM messages, Peke please get a useful log from the user.

I fixed user issues in remote session as described in bug he can't replicate anymore, but I asked if he have time to try to replicate again.

Maybe an KB article update would be enough for now?

To be honest, I'm not sure what to enter to the KB, since this is just one case reported we don't know much about the problem. Feel free to reopen though in case you have any more info available.
