Summary0014402: If Album Artist="" then tracks appear as "Unknown album" and without artwork in browser views (regression?)
DescriptionIn cases where:
Album = xx
Artist = xx
Album Artist = ""
-->
a) MMA shows the Album as "Unknown Album" in Albums views (e.g. Albums view, Artists>Albums view, Genre>GenreName>Albums view, etc.) despite the fact that the Album is known. In contrast if the Album Artist="Various", then the Album displays correctly.
b) Similarly to the above, for all the cases in a) Album Art is not displayed in the Album view. BUT as soon as the user plays the track, the Album Art is displayed.

Tested with Nexus 5x / Android 8 that had been upgraded from MM 1.3.0 to 1.3.1.

Upon further testing, it seems that the bug 14402 doesn't occur with MMA 351 / MMW 1851.

It does, however, occur on a device that was previously synced with earlier versions of MMA/MMW and has been updated to MMA 350.

On that device, in MMA, Album Artist="" despite the fact that:
- in MMW, Album Artist=Various!
- in MMA, Album/Album Art information doesn't appear in the browser views but does appear in the Now Playing view (see attached images).
So it's possible that:
a) The bug still exists and we just haven't figured out how to replicate it
b) The bug existed in synchronization of previous versions of MMA and or MMW (and the problem persists in the db when upgrading--despite the fact that Album information is displayed)
c) The bug occurs when upgrading from one version of MMA to another

Probably fixed by regression fix in build 732

The user indicated that the problem is only partially resolved in 732. Debug log posted in the forum thread.

Also, a couple of other users have reported similar problems at http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=88441 although they have yet to confirm whether they're using the latest betas.

Also, I've reconfirmed with MMA 732 vs MMW 1851: when doing a wifi sync for a track where Album="" and Album Artist=AlbumArtistName in MMW, then the track appears in MMA as Album="" and Album Artist="". Moreover, Album Art is missing.

(interestingly with these builds, if MMW has Artist=ArtistName, and Album=AlbumName, and Album Artist="", then everything including artwork, syncs as expected).

Test example: Cheerleader (Felix Joehn Remix), Artist and Album Artist=OMI, Album=""
1 Sync the sample track. Debug log: 1M226ACQY1
2 View track Properties
--> Album artist = "" (despite MMW showing "OMI" in that field)
Debug log: XFFZ9JF1ZW
3 Delete the track from MMA
4 In MMW add album art to the track
5 Sync
--> Track appears in MMA with Album Artist="" and Artwork=""
Debug log: 63VNZC6QAD

Or is the missing AA just a case of 0011919 (I wouldn't have thought so since the Album Artist/Artist are the same and there's only a single image associated with the directory) ?

Marek confirmed that the missing Album Art is just a case of 0013428 (which has already been incorporated into 0011919.

As far as the fact that the Album Artist field is getting lost in cases where album=""--this would also have to be fixed as part of 0011919.

As far as the issue re. lost album art for some tracks that do contain unique Album/Album Artist, that particular issue was a regression introduced in an earlier beta build and resolved in 732 as indicated at 0014402:0048815, and confirmed by Peke based on testing upgrade scenarios from 1.3.0 to 1.3.1.
