Summary0014042: Facilitate installation of popular extensions for certain functionality that isn't included by default
DescriptionAs MM5 have number of Extensions distributed with installation it would be nice if we can allow users which ones will be installed. This would be added as advanced Installation options

Reason for that is that in the past users demanded lite weight MMW as player.

Also in future versions we can offer codec pack download along with installation itself.

A key example for this would be 0013962: allnodes functionality which isn't enabled by default, but which many users coming from MM4 may desire.

At the moment, users will have to know to navigate to the Sample Scripts directory and navigate through a list of 20 scripts. I trivial way of accomplishing this objective would be to:
a) Organize the scripts a bit better
. i) divide the scripts into those that are _just_ samples for coders vs those that are intended for users. e.g.
\Extensions
. . \For MM4 users
. . \Visualization
. . \Sample scripts
etc...

b) Provide a means (from the extensions dialog) of navigating and activating inactive extensions. e.g. Display 'Installed' extensions in one tab, and 'Inactive' extensions in another. Then the user can select from among the 'Inactive' extensions and 'Install' them.

Another feedback/request related to the need of having "MM4 compatibility mode" easily available and easily discoverable by long time MM4 users: https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=94543&p=459069#p459067

Maybe the 'showAllNodes' addon should be rather incorporated to the MM5 vanilla and there should be an option for this in
Collection Options > Tree Nodes ?

I agree that allnodes needs to be default. Users coming from MM4 will likely expect this. That this can be disabled, if a user desires so, is fantastic though.

'showAllNodes' addon was incorporated to the MM5 vanilla, there is a new config to enable all subnodes in the media tree context menu, details in 0016188:0055721

Resolving, as one of the problems seem to be resolved and the rest can be easily done through the Addons site.

New request for this feature at https://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=100400 where user do not want that MM install removed addons on each update, as user needs to uninstall them again.

Per discussion with Rusty, this doesn't seem to be necessary, particularly due to improvements to the Addons dialog. And, imho this is the way to go, to rather improve generic addons ui/workflow than to include new functionality.

Closing not relevant anymore as it is handled thru other improvements.
