Summary0011420: iOS not supported error should check for upgrade
DescriptionCurrently a user connecting an iOS7 device with MediaMonkey 4.0.7 will get a not supported message.

It would be more user friendly if MMW could check if a newer version (even if it is a beta) is available that does support the version of iOS that the user is using.
When no MMW version supports the iOS version the user has the message could be more friendly with something along the lines that the iOS version isn't supported, the team is working hard on it and perhaps a link to where the user can track progress.
TagsNo tags attached.
Fixed in build1669

I'm not sure whether this makes sense or not, since many iOS version updates are supported. I suppose that what would be needed is to maintain some sort of xml file online that defines what versions of iOS are supported, and for MMW to look that up. Then MMW could present the user with a very specific message based on the content of the xml file.

Leaving this for Ludek to triage.

In the absence of version-specific information, we can just modify the existing message by adding a link at the bottom. eg.:
The iPhone/iPod firmware is not compatible with this version of MediaMonkey. '
'You''ll be able to view the contents of the device, but will not be able to write to it.
[Technical Support] [OK]

But there is no mention about iOS7 on the support.mediamonkey.com
Also on our main page there is only [iTunes 10.5 and IOS 5 Compatibility] link.
I think it should be updated, because users currently cannot know that MM supports iOS7.

What if I would use http://www.mediamonkey.com/iPhoneFirmware and it would auto-redirect to http://www.mediamonkey.com/news/2012/04/18/itunes-10-5-and-ios-5-compatibility/ ?

Per IM discussion, http://devices.mediamonkey.com should be used and it will be re-mapped to corresponding page.

FYI: The curent message is:

The iPhone/iPod firmware is not compatible with this version of MediaMonkey.
You''ll be able to view the contents of the device, but will not be able to write to it.
[Ok]

After clicking the [Ok] button MM will open the http://devices.mediamonkey.com link in the default web browser.
